An excellent text. The writing style is scholarly but still clear to the novice in the field, not written for obscurity as some texts seem to do. Although it is accessible to me as a student, still I anticipate keeping this book for future reference in my career. The layout of the chapters is sensible. Information is easy to find. Definitely a worthwhile book for my professional shelf. The only reason for the 4 stars is the terribly poor binding. With very gentle use over only a few weeks, the binding has basically disintegrated.

A wonderful book!

As a therapist who is new to the Gestalt, I have found this text to be a wonderful introduction into the philosophical underpinnings of Gestalt. Dr. Crocker is a philosopher by training, and she writes with a clear philosopher's hand - using language precisely, defining terms and using metaphor to help the reader understand complex phenomena. As a trained therapist, she also provides some good clinical case examples to illuminate her discussion.
If you like philosophy, and are interested in Gestalt therapy, I would recommend this book. If you are interested in phenomenology, I would also recommend this book.
I believe that this book is one that I will re-read in the future, and each re-reading will help me understand Gestalt at a deeper level.

Decent history of black leather jackets

If you want a pretty thorough history of the black leather jacket, this is a pretty good read. It has a definite British slant to it, but still acknowledges American contributions like Marlon Brando, James Dean, Harleys, etc. If you want something on other types of leather wear, sorry, you won't find it here. I was hoping there would be coverage of horsehide bomber jackets, i.e., A-2 World War II vintage, but there is scant mention of the subject. You'll have to look elsewhere if that's your interest. There are good black and white photos of various leather gear and subculture types from 50's bikers to new age rockers. A worthwhile purchase in my opinion.

the villains are better developed in this story than in most westerns which followed.

Worth the Read

The Two-Gun Man is by far one of the best western novels I've read so far. In my personal opinion, Seltzer is a more interesting writer than both L'Amour and Max Brand, two of the most well known western authors of all time. Being an avid reader of all three, I have given up L'Amour as !y favourite in place of Seltzer. While Seltzer sticks by the tried and true character list of hero, heroine, and their villain, every character has a difference. Creating fresh, new, engaging western novels is always a difficult task, particularly since the protagonists are expected to follow such a specific role of a never failing hero against nearly always impossible odds, but Seltzer succeeds nine out of ten times. An author myself, I would like nothing better than for my westerns to follow in Seltzer's footsteps. The Two-Gun Man is definitely worth reading.

A fresh approach to transmission lines

I have well over a dozen books covering transmission lines and waveguides at hand, some of them being quite similar to one another. But as the author suggests in the preface, this one is indeed a bit different.

It is nice to start the book with pulse propagation. There are so many illustrative examples. Also, I could find topics that aren't usually discussed in most other book (such as low-frequency characteristics of transmission lines) and numerous illuminating observations throughout the book.

Regarding Part 3 of the book, Transmission Lines and Photons, I did think photons didn't feature as much as anticipated, as the author himself admits (in Section 7.8). But still those chapters were thought-provoking and I liked them.

Overall, the book is highly readable and shows the author's lasting enthusiasm for the subject. I can recommend it to anybody wishing to learn or already familiar with transmission lines and waveguides.
