Some of Lennon's best songs are on here, but some of them I don't know to well. There are also alot of songs written by Yoko Ono which I'm not to big a fan of hers. Anyways, stick with playing the Lennon songs and you will be alright.

A wonderfully illustrated look at Alexander the Great

Robin Lane Fox considers Alexander the Great to be the world's first authentic hero. Having retraced Alexander's 10 year, 11,000-mile march in carving out his empire and written a prize-winning biography, "Alexander the Great," the author certainly has the credentials to back up this particular book. "The Search for Alexander" emphasizes the conqueror's personality, motivation, and incredible ambition that consistently overcame severe obstacles of geography, weather, morale, and food supply. Consequently, this book reads more like a detective story, sifting through the historical record to make his best case for what really happened and why. "The Search for Alexander" contains more than 220 photographs, 135 in full cover, including striking pictures of the royal tombs discovered at Vergina, Greece in 1977, which Lane Fox argues is the burial place of Alexander's father, Philip II. If you have even a passing interest in the subject, this is a fascinating book, whether you are content just to look at the pictures or are really interested in the historiography involved in this volume.

Well worth the money!

I thoroughly enjoyed Robin Lane Fox's book "The Search for Alexander". The book was very interesting and informative and the photographs were outstanding. The only thing I was disappointed in was on page 68 is a photo of the head of a statue that might be Hephaestion, and it is placed too close to the edge of the page so that the nose is cut off. I have also read Mr. Fox's books "Alexander the Great" and "The Making of Alexander". I have enjoyed reading and re-reading all three of his books. I find Mr. Fox to be a very likeable man and his books are very fair to Alexander. I highly recommend all of Robin Lane Fox's books.

The best book on Physiology - by far!

As a Physics PhD, with a great interest in human physiology, I have read, or attempted to read a great number of books, from all the main authors on the subject. While there are many excellent books to consider, none, in my opinion come close to this book. Clear but without being simplistic, always to the point and with a great writing style, it never gets boring or convoluted, delivering the maximal amount of information per page. The great illustrations help cement the knowledge, but it is the writing that is engaging. I will go as far as saying that this book reads almost like a best selling novel, making it hard to put down as one moves from one concept to the next. One suggestion to make this the perfect book is to include a chapter on the immune system in the next edition. Thanks to the authors for writing such a great book on such a fascinating subject.

The Best Review of Physiology for the USMLE Step 1!

Forget about BRS Physiology with boring dry style, short on clinical correlations, lacking in the major important areas (like acid-base physiology), and with the shameful number of illustrations. LIR Physiology is the new standard for studying physiology and reviewing it for the USMLE step 1. Everything important is here, presented succinctly, explained elegantly, and illustrated with the hundreds of beautiful illustrations. And what's most important for the USMLE Step 1 - there are numerous clinical correlations with detailed yet concise discussions which undoubtedly will help you to ace the boards. Multiple choice questions at the end of each chapter are also much better in LIR Physiology - unlike those in BRS Physiology they are mostly case-based and USMLE-ish.

Good supplement to Salesforce documentation

I've read a good deal of the book and it covers some key programming concepts that are spread out through blogs, the developerforce wiki, and the docs. For instance, the static variables stuff is covered in multiple places on the web. A lot of the stuff about Limits is also covered on the web, but, again, you have do a number of searches to get the information conglomerated in a single, digestable piece.

So, the book is a very good collection of information that is sometimes new info and sometimes exists in other places. I think for that reason it is highly valuable. It's a real timesaver, and I recommend it for that reason.

I would give it 5 stars if the print version had an index. The book has a TOC but no index.

I looked for this book at brick and mortar stores (sorry Amazon), but it is a print-to-order to book. So, if you order it from B&N, they have to first print it, and then they have to ship it. So, you might as well just get it from Amazon. I'm telling you this so that you know that you probably won't be able to get it any faster than Amazon can get it to you.

I was privileged to review a pre-publication version of Dan's book. As a developer who has worked on the force.com platform since before it was launched, I found the book enlightening. The author clearly explains advanced Apex topics, that while mentioned in the free documentation and in paid courses, are never really EXPLAINED. I enjoyed just opening the book at random parts and reading, and learning. Highly recommended for anyone working in Apex.

Great ideas but poorly written - especially the code examples

Dan Appleman is a knowledgeable expert and a charismatic speaker. His book is full of nuggets of wisdom that you probably get nearly nowhere else in the Salesforce.com space...BUT there is one thing I really hate about this book.

It is hard to read. Not because it's "Advanced" like Mr.Appleman warns in his foreword. But because it contains the most inconsistent and hard to read code formatting I have ever seen in an IT book in my career. It really feels careless how the author mixes Upper and lower cases, how he ignores C or Java conventions, how he randomly uses and misuses CamelCase, how he uses goofy names for classes and methods, how he omits braces in the weirdest statements...

Stuff that's hard to read and hard to understand doesn't help. If the intention of this book was to help, he should publish a 2nd edition with reviewed code examples.
